George King, MD, is Chief Scientific Officer at the Joslin Diabetes Center

With the biggest group of diabetes researchers under one roof in the world, Joslin carries out an extremely broad set of research into all types of diabetes. At any given time, forinstance, about 150 clinical studies are underway here, and we’re training 120 M.D. and Ph.D. research fellows who will go on to take major roles in diabetes research worldwide.

Overseeing this effort is George King, M.D., Joslin’s Chief Scientific Officer, who is also a leading researcher in diabetes complications, principal investigator for the Joslin 50-Year Medalist Study and Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Recently we asked Dr. King a few questions about trends in diabetes research, here and globally.
